Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals (EFIT)

In individual counseling, I specialize in LGBTQIA+ support and treatment, Relationship Trauma, Religious Trauma/Faith Change.

In individual work I use an Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy model (EFIT). We will sort out the significant meanings behind anxieties and fears and practice identifying and owning your specific needs. As you work on yourself and grow in owning needs, you may start to strengthen your attachment bonds with friends or family by sharing your experience and fears vulnerably with these significant relationships. In our sessions I help you meet yourself in an important encounter with shame from within or with another person, and work with it directly to strengthen your voice and connection from within.

In individual counseling we work on creating and maintaining secure relationships, owning disowned aspects of who you are due to past attachment trauma, learning more about your behaviors and strategies you use to cope and stay connected to others, and better understand why you might do what you do, feel what you feel, and think the way you think.

There are many reasons we act the way we do, and one of the worst things that can happen is not having more clarity and understanding about your inner experience. When you better understand what is going on deep down, it calms the nervous system (decreases anxiety), and allows you to identify and own your needs and use them intentionally in all your relationships.

Simply put, we identify surface emotions/behaviors, validate how they helped you survive, and open a pathway of compassion and personal needs to be seen and discovered that with help you thrive.
